stripe setup and troubleshooting at makers, we use stripe to collect customer payments in store and send your sales earnings directly to your bank account twice a month during onboarding, you'll set up your stripe account using a one time unique setup link found in your makerspos settings this is where you'll enter your banking information to receive payouts already have a stripe account? do not create a new stripe account instead, click the setup link in your makerspos settings and log in using your existing stripe account when prompted once logged in, navigate to the shop makers profile and add your banking information if the email address associated with your stripe login differs from the email we currently have on file for you, please notify us before proceeding attempting setup a locate your account correctly in our system part 1 finding your setup link log in to your makerspos account click on settings click the get your stripe link button follow the prompts to complete your stripe account setup and connect your bank account please use the email address we have on file when creating your account part 2 step by step setup before you click the setup link ā disable your pop up blocker do this before anything else the stripe setup opens in a new window if your browser blocks pop ups, you will see a blank screen or error and the setup will not complete google chrome (desktop) click the three dots (top right) ā settings go to privacy and security ā site settings ā pop ups and redirects allow pop ups for connect stripe com, or temporarily disable the blocker refresh your setup link and complete setup re enable the blocker when you are done microsoft edge (desktop) click the three dots ā settings ā cookies and site permissions scroll to pop ups and redirects ā allow connect stripe com refresh your setup link re enable the blocker when you are done also check do not use incognito or private browsing mode it blocks redirects a desktop or laptop is strongly recommended; mobile browsers may cause additional issues before you start ā what you'll need make sure you have the following ready before beginning a device with internet access (desktop recommended) a valid photo id (driver's licence, passport, or government issued id) business registration or tax info if applicable (business number, gst/hst, etc ) bank account details (bank name, transit number, institution number, account number) step 1 open your makerspos settings find the one time unique setup link in your makerspos settings and click it to open the stripe express signup page step 2 start the stripe express onboarding click get started or complete setup on the stripe page choose your country and confirm your contact email if prompted use the email address we have on file when creating your account step 3 enter your business and personal details fill out each field as accurately as possible business name enter it exactly as registered business type select your legal structure (sole proprietor, corporation, charity, etc ) business contact provide your business address and phone number owner or director details add the legal name, date of birth, and home address as requested documents stripe may ask for a photo id and business registration documents ā upload them when prompted website field enter your website or social media page (instagram, facebook, etc ) or use www shopmakers ca if you don't have a website step 4 add your bank account for payouts enter your bank account number and transit/institution number confirm the account holder name matches your business or personal name exactly step 5 provide tax and verification info enter your tax id or business number if asked answer any ownership or verification questions submit any additional documents stripe requests for identity or business verification verification can take anywhere from a few minutes to several days depending on document review this is normal step 6 confirm and connect to makers after setup, you should see a confirmation that your stripe express account is connected to makers step 7 what you will see in stripe your sales will not appear in stripe in real time ā this is normal makers sends payouts on the 1st and 16th of each month funds only appear in your stripe account once a payout has been sent for that period if your stripe account was set up after a payout cycle had already started, your first payout will be included in the following cycle use makerspos to track your sales in the meantime payout amounts and schedules are controlled by makers, not stripe part 3 managing your account accessing your stripe account log in any time at express stripe com https //express stripe com username your registered email address password created during setup updating your banking details to update the bank account linked to your payouts log in to express stripe com click the menu icon (top right) and select shop makers under payout details , click edit next to your bank account enter your updated transit number, institution number, and bank account number use the edit button only ā do not click delete , as this may lock your account accessing your payout details log in to express stripe com https //express stripe com go to the payouts tab review your transactions, including dates, amounts, and fees reconciling your sales payout step 1 review your payout summary email check your payout email for a breakdown of the transfer amount and sales period you can find the payout schedule here 2026 payout schedule & timing docid\ mps4runucmnpxmeh2rnyp step 2 match with makerspos transactions compare the payout details with your makerspos transaction history for the same period sales do not accumulate in stripe you will only see funds in your stripe account once a payout has been sent use makerspos to track your running sales total between payout dates step 3 report discrepancies if you find any inconsistencies, email name enter your full legal business name business type select the correct type (e g , sole proprietorship) address use your registered business address tax details provide your tax number (e g , gst/hst for canadian businesses) or indicate you're not registered step 2 upload documents identity verification upload a government issued id (e g , passport) business verification provide a business document (e g , articles of incorporation, tax registration) address verification upload proof of address (e g , utility bill) do not use the same document for both identity and address verification ā stripe requires separate documents for each tips for smooth verification ensure all documents are clear and legible use consistent business information across all document stripe identity verification you can verify your account in two ways option 1 liveness verification complete a quick selfie check via the stripe dashboard option 2 document upload upload a government issued id for identity verification and a separate document (e g , utility bill) for address verification document upload troubleshooting if you encounter issues uploading documents restart your browser (google chrome recommended) clear your browser cache or try a different browser use a desktop computer instead of a mobile device upload alternative documents if possible part 5 common questions q i already have a stripe account do i need a new one for makers? no ā use your existing account click the setup link in your makerspos settings and log in when prompted if your existing account is under another email, this is almost always caused by a pop up or privacy blocker see before you click the setup link above for instructions if disabling your pop up blocker doesn't resolve it, try switching to google vendor code and the payout period in question q i received an email from stripe asking for more information what should i do? log in to express stripe com and provide the requested details stripe may ask for additional id or business documents during verification ā this is normal and does not mean anything is wrong q i don't have a website what should i enter? enter your social media handle (instagram, facebook, etc ) or use www shopmakers ca as a placeholder q i don't have a customer service phone number what should i enter? use 000 000 0000 as a placeholder q my bank account was rejected what should i do? double check that your transit number, institution number, and account number are entered correctly the account holder name in stripe matches your name or business name is linked under payout details in your stripe dashboard if you have multiple accounts listed, remove any secondary ones if the issue continues, email nadia\@shopmakers ca with your vendor id and the relevant payout date q my verification is taking a long time log in to express stripe com and check whether stripe is waiting on any documents from you upload clear, legible scans of your id and any business documents requested if your account has been pending for more than 5 business days with no update, contact stripe support directly via the help function in your stripe dashboard still need
